| Adriano Aguzzi, MD, PhD h.c., is Professor and Chair of the Dept. of Pathology of the University of Zurich. He made key discoveries on pathogenesis, diagnosis, and therapy of prion diseases (Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease, Mad Cow Disease) and other neurodegenerative diseases. He holds three honorary doctorates and numerous research prizes including the Marcel-Benoist and the Robert-Koch Prize, the highest academic honors in Switzerland and Germany, respectively. In addition to his clinical and research activities, Adriano Aguzzi acts as the Program Director of the MD-PhD program of the University of Zurich. Also, he has passionately contributed to the public understanding of science in Switzerland over the past 15 years. | |
