on a Technology Acquisition
A biologics manufacturer wanted an independent view on the merits of acquiring a company that had developed a novel production technology. We assembled a project team of experts from the UK and the US to work with the client's R&D experts. A list of questions for the experts were prepared by us in collaboration with the client. The expert's responses formed the basis of a lively web-ex discussion in which we drilled down to uncover several fundamental concerns about the longterm benefits of the acquisition. The client decided not to acquire the technology, saving many millions, but also developed a more clear definition of the technology they really needed.
